Beware of Foreclosure Prevention Scams

Some of the worst perpetrators have been in New Jersey. NEWARK, N.J. – A Piscataway man who owned and operated multiple foreclosure rescue companies was sentenced today to 46 months in prison for his role in a mortgage fraud scheme that defrauded numerous mortgage lenders of more than $10 million, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced. The details are worth keeping in mind.

  2. Very sad. Facing foreclosure is scary enough business without having to worry about people preying on other people's misfortunes. I was dealing with a potential American Home Mortgage Servicing, Inc foreclosure, but I was lucky. I was open and honest with AHMSI, and they were able to help me avoid foreclosure. Thanks for sharing this information. Hopefully, people will no longer be duped by scammers, especially, when they can often receive help from their mortgage provider.

  3. I should have also noted that there are many local nonprofits who can give advice and assistance for no charge.
